The
members who attended had a good night. Milestone was the band,
they were the support act at one of our recent dances, and they
performed a good set. Lez felt that they had improved a lot
since they performed for us and may be worth considering for
the rally.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
September:
CHEQUE PRESENTATIONS:
The first cheque was due to the inspiration of a local
lass, Elaine (Grumph’s partner, who) suffers from MS,
hers sons decided to do some fundraising for the MS society.
The boys set off to do the “three peaks challenge”
which involves climbing the highest peak in Scotland + the highest
peak in England + the highest peak in Wales (Ben Nevis, Scafell
Pike and Snowdon) all within 24 hours. The club presented the
guys with a cheque for £100 towards the running total
so far of around £5000.
The second
cheque was part of the club’s ongoing commitment to support
the up & coming talent in bike racing. The club started
supporting Gordon of GJ Racing when he was riding mini-motos
and he has now moved up to a fully geared SV 650. This season
he has so far achieved 37 podiums from 39 starts (21 firsts)
resulting in Gordon winning several championships and winning
the Nial Mackenzie best novice rider award. Gordon thanked the
club for the £250 cheque and all the support he has received
so far. Next year Gordon hopes to move up to the Superstock
600’s.
SOCIAL
NIGHT:
The recent
social night was a great success and thanks were given to Libby
for organising the food and live music. Members of Fool On and
Ayrshire Bikers MCCs helped swell the numbers and added to the
night. It was agreed that we approach Libby and ask if she would
help with another night in six weeks.
LYCAN CLAN
MCC – HOG ROAST:
The Hog
Roast is taking place at the Bullfrog in Motherwell on Saturday
8 October from 4-00 pm onwards.
AYRSHIRE
BIKERS HALLOWEEN DANCE:
The dance
is on the 29 October in the Annick Tavern, Dreghorn and the
band is Milestone. See a AB MCC member or contact a committee
member if you want a ticket.
XMAS DANCE:
The dance
will be on Friday 9 December in the Supporters club.
RALLY:
The Plan
is to have a number of bands on each day with State of Emergency
on the Friday, other bands need to be identified and booked
– any suggestions should be given to Neil Jones. Decisions
about band running orders, T-Shirts etc will be taken at the
October meeting.
CHARITY REQUEST:
A request
was made to the club on behalf of “Mary’s Meals”
by the minister at St John’s church Kilmarnock. The appeal
will help feed and clothe children in Malawi. A loose change
collection raised £30.00.
OCTOBER
MEETINGS
Wednesday
12 and 26 October.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July:
Saturday
Social Night:
A decent
turn out from the club, we also had members from some of the
other clubs who were invited – Ayrshire Bikers, Brothers
in Arms, Loudon and the Lycan Clan.
It was generally agreed that we should do this again.
Summer
Camp:
Well done to Neil and Phil for their organising of the week
end. The site was good with great facilities; the weather was
good, bright and sunny during the day if a bit Baltic at night.
It was great to see all the members who were camping and a special
and a special mention to the members who came along for the
day.
We
may try to organise another weekend if members are committed
to it.
The run
home may turn out to be the best this year, from Blair Athol
to Dalwhinnie then on to Spean Bridge and the Commando memorial
(not to mention the views of Ben Nevis). Lunch was had in Fort
William before the run through Glen Coe at its summer best.
Unfortunately when leaving Tarbet the police picked out one
our number for some discussions on the evils of speed.
Sunday
Runs:
Anyone up for a run on 31 July should meet at the Q8 as usual.
Sunday 7
August there is the 1st Wheelie Good Bike Show is being organised
in Newton Stewart. There is a lot of stuff taking place and
it would be a good destination for the Sunday run.
Rally-2011
The
overwhelming view is to have a rally; the proposed dates are
the last weekend in July or the first weekend in August. Neil
will progress this and would welcome some members volunteering
to help. Consultations will take place with other organisations
to provide details of our proposals.
Charity Donation:
Gumphs girlfriend – Elaine – has MS and her two
sons undertook the Three Peaks challenge – the highest
in Scotland, Wales & England in 24 hours – to raise
money for the MS society. A collection raised.
New
EU Proposals for Bike Laws:
Ian has circulated a link to information on the issues and an
example of a letter for people to write to their MP about these
proposals to try and get the unfair proposals blocked. Please
write to your MP and pass on the info to other bikers.
Meeting
Dates:
Wednesday 10 and 31 August.
..............................................................................................................
June:
Alba
West:
Members will
recall the decision to fund a prize at the event. The prize
is a Stainless Steel plaque which was presented to the winners
of the Strong Man Competition. (There are photos of the plaque
and the winners on the web site). Alba west organisers are pleased
with the trophy and our sponsorship of the event which will
be competed for on an annual basis.
35/37 members,
and some friends, helped ensure that we won prize for the biggest
club attending. This means that the club has now won this award
four years in a row.
We also
have a new topless table top gogo dancer – Bernie. His
Kilt bears witness to the muddy conditions and he will gladly
accept donations for its cleaning.
Blair
Athol:
The
camp at Blair Athol is the weekend of July 22nd to 24th. Payment
is due now.
For those
who want to travel as a group will meet at the Q8 on the Friday
morning at 10.00 am. There are some people taking cars so there
is a possibility of gear being taken up, arrangements to be
made before the Friday.
Summer
Dance:
A free event
for members and friends is being arranged for Saturday 13 August
in Kilmarnock, venue to be the Hunting Lodge. We need to know
who is going and what guests you are bringing so that we invite
friends from other clubs.
If you have
not put your name forward by the next end of month meeting 27
JULY, it will be assumed that you are not going.
Trip
to Skye or Lake District:
Gordon
is proposing a weekend trip on 5 August, anyone interested let
him know, likely to be to the Lake District. Accommodation costs
are likely to be £15/£20 per night.
Sinners
Rally:
Sinners’
rally – limited tickets – 9th/11th September, this
is the same date as the Leeds rally. Let Gordon know if you
want a ticket.
Social Night:
It is suggested that the club has a short meeting in the Myle
followed by a rock night. This will be more a social event than
a business meeting!!!!
GJ Racing:
Skins’ boys are racing at East Fortune and the event will
be broadcast on MOTO TV on 14n July.

Cruiser Club Caledonia: Hi There. We are contacting your Club regarding accusations made by some Ex-members of our club who have recently been falsely informing other Clubs about a charity event in which £950 pounds was raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Clubs around Scotland have been told that we kept part of the monies raised to line our own pockets, This in fact is not the case and we would like to take this opportunity to let any Club who has heard these rumours know that we did in fact pay the charity the full amount promised.
If your Club would like me to E-mail or post copies of the receipts I will be happy to do this. We hope this clears up any misunderstanding regarding our clubs charity donations. If you would like to contact our club president, Ginger on 07767230538 then he will be happy to address any questions or comments that need answered.
Thank you for giving us the chance to put forward our side of the story.
Your sincerely
Andy Gamble.
